Big Data Afternoon

From theory to practice

Big data

Breakfast Seminar on September 12, 2017

Over the last year, OCTO Technology has presented a series of Afterworks devoted to Big Data. We discussed multiple aspects of those platforms and explored the richness of available paradigms. Today more and more companies are expanding their classical infrastructure architecture and dive into a new, larger, faster and more diverse world.

When discussing with our clients, we often encounter practical questions:

  • How to deploy a Hadoop infrastructure to unload overflowing Oracle databases?

  • How to efficiently combine data from multiple internal and external sources to analyse business trends and derive value from data?

  • How to manage large real time data stream, in order to analyse, store and visualise them?

  • When I hear “Hadoop”: wouldn’t it be better to start with a simpler ecosystem such as RDBM, Elasticsearch or Cassandra?

Those questions highlight recurrent challenges that can be addressed by different components in the Big Data ecosystem.

We organise a Big Data afternoon in Geneva to present a (small) overview of existing solutions. The program consists of 20-minutes sessions that alternate presentations from editors and practical experiences from our clients. Time for networking and informal discussions are planned throughout the afternoon.

Places are limited, please take the time to register. This event is open to all, however in case of high demand we will favor our clients and prospects. Thank you for your understanding.
